Good lens for Olympus four thirds cameras, January 30, 2011 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Olympus 261056 Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm F4.0-5.6 Zoom Lens (Electronics) Considering the cost and the weight (benefits of using plastic in the construction) this is a very good lens. It provides better image quality than the 14-42mm zoom from Olympus but that is to be expected. Much harder and more expensive to provide top image quality in a wide angle zoom lens, and much easier with a lens that goes from normal to telephoto in its zoom range.
It is a very slow lens at f5.6 providing 1/4 the light of top quality zoom lens available for APS-C cameras (Nikon and Canon 70-200mm f2.8 and Sigma 50-150mm f2.8 for Canon and Nikon cameras). Not a problem in bright sunlight but earlier or later in the day or on overcast days or when shooting indoors the result is needing to set the camera for a very high ISO. With high ISO settings the Olympus cameras image quality drops a great deal. Higher than ISO 800 and color fidelity suffers greatly.
