This lens incorporates traditional Minolta lens design philosophy: emphasize the character and feeling that a lens produces rather than focusing on sheer maximization of micro-contrast. The rendering provided at wide apertures delivers a surreal quality, without any "bite"...almost like watercolors.

The smaller (and cheaper, if you can find it) Minolta 35mm f/2 will deliver an edge in sharpness at f/2, but it does so in a more clinical fashion...and it won't go to f/1.4.

The best lens I can compare this to is the 100mm f/2 Minolta lens, which explains why it is even rarer still.

There's probably a reason why there are none of these for sale used here.
